Media blasting is the most effective way to remove old/failed finish from your home.  Our experience with media blasting has led us to use crushed glass because it is more abrasive which allows us to use a finer grit and have less texture to sand out of the logs.  Another reason crushed glass is superior to other types of media is because it contains no organic material, organic material left in the logs can lead to log rot or attract insects.  We follow every blast with a thorough wash down to remove any left-over glass or dust from logs.

An alternative to media blasting to remove less stubborn finishes is chemical stripping.  This is effective when very little product needs removed from the logs.  We use a non-caustic PH neutral stripper for this process.
